GoodBuyJournal is a brand operated by HME Technologies ("GoodBuyJournal", "we", "us" or "our"). This policy explains what information we collect when you use this website, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the site, you agree to this policy. Last updated October 27, 2026.
Who we are
GoodBuyJournal publishes reviews of products our team has used hands-on. We are not a retailer and we do not sell the products we review. When you click to buy, you leave our site for the retailer's, and the retailer's own privacy policy applies from there.
Information you give us
If you email us or sign up for our newsletter, we collect your email address and anything you choose to put in your message. We do not ask for payment details, passwords or government ID numbers anywhere on this site.
Information collected automatically
When you visit, we and our service providers collect standard technical information: device and browser type, IP address, pages viewed, and how you arrived (for example from a search engine, a YouTube video or a link with campaign tags). When you click an affiliate link, we record the brand, the article, where on the page the link was, where you first came from, your device type and your country, which our hosting provider works out from your connection. We use your browser's session storage to remember how you arrived during a single visit, and the site may use cookies or similar technologies for analytics.
How we use your information
To run, measure and improve the site; to understand which reviews and buttons are useful to readers; to reply to you when you contact us; to send the newsletter if you signed up for it; and to comply with the law and protect the site against fraud and misuse.
Affiliate partners
When you click an affiliate link and visit a retailer, the retailer or its affiliate network may set its own cookies so it can tell the sale came from us. They handle that information under their own privacy policies. We receive reports of sales and commissions, not your name or payment details.
Who we share it with
Service providers that help us run the site, such as hosting, database, analytics and email tools, who may only use the information to provide services to us. We also share information when the law requires it, to enforce our terms, or to protect rights, property or safety. We do not sell your personal information for money.
Your choices
You can unsubscribe from our newsletter using the link in any email. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and the site will still work. You can ask us to access, correct or delete information we hold about you by emailing us, subject to legal limits.
Your California privacy rights
If you live in California, the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the CPRA) gives you the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use and share it, to request access to or deletion of it, to correct inaccurate information, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information. Some affiliate and analytics cookies may count as sharing under that law. To use any of these rights, email us. We may need to verify your identity first, and we will not treat you differently for using your rights.
Data retention and security
We keep information only as long as we need it to run the site, comply with the law and resolve disputes. Click records are kept in aggregate for reporting. We use reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect information, but no method of sending or storing data is completely secure.
Children
This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us information, email us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version here with a new date at the top.
