About

GoodBuyJournal publishes reviews of products we have actually used. Every article comes from a hands-on video made by Consumer Research Studios, the YouTube channel run by our team at HME Technologies, and is written for the person about to spend their own money.

Who we are

GoodBuyJournal is run by HME Technologies, the team behind the Consumer Research Studios YouTube channel (@CSR). The same people who test products on camera write and check the reviews here. The site exists because a video is great for seeing a product and a written review is better for comparing details, checking a price or coming back to later.

What we cover

We review the things people research before they buy: mattresses, toppers, pillows and bases; software and apps such as parental controls, PDF editors, learning apps, password managers and identity protection; pet food; food subscriptions; travel eSIMs; and jewelry. Right now that is 42 reviews and guides across 42 brands, and the list grows with every video.

What makes a GoodBuyJournal review different

We only review products we have used, and we show the testing on video so you can check our work. Every review tells you who should skip the product before it tells you who should buy it, names the main downside, and links the footage it came from.

How we stay independent

We earn money from affiliate links, and that is the only reason the site is free. Commissions do not decide what we test, what score a product gets, or where it sits on a list. Brands never see a review before it is published. Our full process is on the How we test page, and the rules we hold ourselves to are in our editorial policy.
